Scritpwriter, ‘Tainted Canvas’ (Live Script Readings, CHANNEL 4 HQ, 4 September, 4pm)
After graduating from Royal Holloway University of London with a BA in Media Arts and an MA in Cinema Studies from Bristol University, Segilola embarked upon pursuing her career as an actress. She made her professional acting debut by playing a Siren in J.M Barry’s Peter Pan at the well renowned Kings Head Theatre. Following that she was given the opportunity to play Nani Of The Maroons and Miriam Makeba. However shortly after that due to the lack of original and substantial roles for Black women in the UK, she was left competing for the same degrading and stereotypical meagre roles. This propelled her to write herself roles and so TAINTED CANVAS was birthed. Subsequently she wrote romcom MUM, DAD, MEET SAM which is due for release early 2015. In addition her short film LOVE PREVAILS was screened at last year’s British Urban Film Festival. She is currently developing an action thriller set in Africa titled BIRDS OF PARADISE and is also set to co-produce MONA LISA LIVES (directed by Anthony Abuah).
